A Legal Speech For the Ages

There are many famous speeches in legal history, whether real or fictional. A great number of lawyers and law students could probably point to a great piece of rhetoric that inspired them to follow this career path, imagining that one day they might have the chance to stand up in court and deliver a historic speech of their own.

Last week Rajiv Menon KC delivered such a speech as a defence barrister in the Filton trial taking place at Woolwich Crown Court.

As we await the decision regarding the proscription of Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation, the criminal prosecution of the Filton defendants represents important context.
