If the current debate around abortion law happening in the UK was taking place in the United States, then it would be the main story in domestic politics and the subject of fierce debate.

Instead, the issue is proceeding through Westminster without much fanfare at all as a small part of a much wider ranging bill.

There are the usual pro-life arguments being put forward in right-wing papers like The Spectator, but these feel like outdated arguments being shouted into the wind of inevitable change.

Instead, the debate has centred around proposed amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill put forward by two backbench Labour MPs.
