My one radical change to the Supreme Court
At its core the way that the Supreme Court operates is fairly simple.
Each case has an odd number of Justices assigned to it (usually 5), they each come to a decision and then the side with the most decisions in their favour wins.
What if we changed that though. Maybe some decisions are so crucial that a simple majority is not enough.
Think back to the Miller case around Brexit and Article 50. Gina Miller won that case by 8-3 but is 72% of the Justices convincing enough on something of such political importance?
In this week's episode of the podcast a case from Northern Ireland prompts us to ask similar questions. It might not have the same high profile as Brexit but if you knew that a judgment could be the difference between being in or out of jail would you not want a clear answer?
