Pope Francis Spoke Out For Justice
It is probably no understatement to say that Pope Francis, who died this week at the age of 88, will go down as one of the most fondly remembered popes in history.
During his time in residence at the Vatican, he touched on some of the most important moral and political issues facing the world today, whether that is increasing rates of global poverty or being more accepting towards the LGBTQIA+ community.
Indeed, in his final few hours, Pope Francis opted to skip a meeting with JD Vance, the Vice President of the United States, and instead sent his second-in-command to give a lecture on compassion, reflecting on how the Trump administration treats migrants.
In his final message, the pontiff called for a Gaza ceasefire and has consistently been a critic of Israeli tactics in Palestinian territory over the past several years.
Francis often spoke about the cruelty of Israel, having once memorably said, “This is not war. This is terrorism”.
