Too Little, Too Late for the Met?
This evening it was announced that Cressida Dick will step down from her role as chief of the Metropolitan Police. Her decision follows in the wake of a number of controversies that began with the murder of Sarah Everard, continued much more recently with the ‘partygate’ scandal, and culminated in a series of findings from the police watchdog that highlighted an ingrained culture of misogyny and racism.
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, revealed that he no longer had any confidence in her leadership and this left Dame Cressida with “no choice but to step aside as commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service”.
