Who really won the Supreme Court battle over Scotland's Brexit preparations
It has been a little while since my last email. I keep planning to write something about Brexit but honestly things keep changing so fast that by the time I have written something it is already out of date.
Anyway the Supreme Court is sort of my area and so in the same way that I did daily coverage of the Article 50 decision I wanted to make sure that I had something for you that looked at the recent decision on Scotland's UK Withdrawal from the European Union (Legal Continuity) (Scotland) Bill.
Essentially you can think of this as a race between the UK and Scottish Parliament but where the rules heavily favour Westminster and the principle of Parliamentary sovereignty.
Nevertheless there are wider implications that also deserve consideration such as the impact of Brexit on devolved administrations and how this decision might inadvertently assist the SNP and those in favour of a second referendum on Scottish independence.
